Tashan's 3rd Birthday - 1 March 2009

boh suka si oh..?When I first joined the company, I was on a 3-month contract, it was mainly to relieve Nanthani as she was due to have a baby and go on her 60-day maternity leave. The day I came in to work, 1st March 2006, was the day Nan had her baby.. a beautiful baby boy whom, she and her hubby Kiru, named Tashan. Today, Tashan turns 3.. Man, how time flies!

At 3, most kids don't really have all that many friends but they don't really care - as long as there's cake and other kids (usually kids of their parents' friends) it was a party! Life's simple when you're 3.. Nan decided to do something different and really great for Tashan's birthday - she celebrated it at a shelter home. It was, what I reckon, was a really great idea!

The birthday boy.. the Mickey birthday cake - made by Devi, of course..

Tashan was really happy, running around and playing with all his new found friends.. there was lots of food and the kids at the shelter were really happy they had company..

Tashan settling down to makan..

Tashan and mama Nan..

Papa Kiru takes a minute to grab a bite after making sure all the kids had their food.. the kids enjoying their meal..
The women in Tashan's life.. grandma, Aunty Devi (yes, this is the same Devi, the one who make all the yummilicious cakes, that I've mentioned on numerous occasion) and, of course, mama Nan..

A bit of background on The Shelter.. The pix of all the kids housed at this particular home..

The brightly coloured staircase at the home..

In addition to the birthday cake, Nan also had cupcakes for each child with their names written on it.. Tashan had one of his own too..

And, presents for all the kids..that was so nice of Nan and the kids, I could tell, were really, really happy..

Nan's brother, Giri, was a hit with the girls! The resident doggies, mother & daughter, Brownie & Puppy.. so cute!

After all the merriment at the home, we adjourned to Nan's place to chill for a bit before going for dinner and to also give Tashan a chance to open his presents.

An estatic Tashan surrounded by all his presents.. Excitedly opening all his pressies..

The view form Nan's apartment balcony.. Nan & Kiru's wedding pix.. Man, I didn't realise how tall Kiru is.. I mean, he's like almost a head taller than Nan and she already like 5'7"!
Dinner was at a place called Farmland that specialises in porridge steamboat..
An excited Tashan waiting for dinner to be served..

And the food arrived..

This was my first go at porridge steamboat and I must say, it was good.. It's exactly the same as regular steamboat except you just put all the stuff into porridge instead of soup or tomyam. Since it'd been raining and was a pretty cool evening, plus I was not feeling all that well, soup and porridge was good by me.
After a great evening out, I finally got home at a little past 10pm. Once again.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TASHAN!
