Friday the 13th Department Dinner - 13 March 2009

We'd been planning for the whole department, all SEVEN of us, to go out for dinner for the longest time but but it was proving to be quite a feat due to our hectic schedules. We had tentatively set it on Friday the 13th (March) but it was pretty up in the air until Rozmah decided to go all commando on us and within an hour on that very Friday afternoon had made reservations for that evening! You go, girl! As glad as I was that it was a done deal, I was kicking myself for removing my camera from my bag that morning! N'er mind, cam on my cell to the rescue once again. Dinner was the seafood buffet at Chit-Chat Restaurant at Traders Hotel.

I had some work to finish up at the office and was the last to arrive. The lot had already been happily tucking in and horror of horrors - the place was pretty dimly lit and the cam on my cell (as you can see below) did not fare well. Still, blurry or not, I had pictures!

Our dinner venue.. My department, clockwise from bottom left, Fred, Rafidah, Jasmin, Indra, Shamini & Rozmah.

Some of the food on my plate.. I had several rounds, I didn't photograph 'em all of course.. The food was.. well, it seafood la.. I was particularly glad there was tuna & octopus shashimi.. there was variety and at least it was fresh but just OK by me la.. nothing that really made me go, "Oh, this is S..O.. GOOD!" Plus, I was still not over the roast beef from a couple of days ago (at MPC - yes, to me, it was really that good..)! There was also roast beef in the buffet line here, smothered in green peppercorn sauce which just killed it for me (Caroline, my cousin in Oz, makes a similar sauce but hers is mild and super yummy!) 'coz I couldn't quite taste the meat.

Conversation was active with lots of laughter..

The hotel itself has taken a very 'minimalistic' approach to its interior design and it carried thru' in the restaurant.. lots of dark wood & carpeting, light marble counter tops and walls, glass & chrome, with touches of red here & there - I like!

Me and my random shots..

More random shots.. And, here are the touches of red I was talking about.. Oh, I wish I had my camera with me!

The lounge outside the resaurant.. and the bathroom - so my kindda bathroom! Love the mosaic on the floor!

More random shots of little details around the restaurant/hotel..

We left at a little after 10pm and missed the last buggy ride from the hotel to KLCC at 10pm. So, we took a slow walk back, taking in the awesome view of the towers!

OK, this shot would've turned out much better using my cam.. It was really pretty, the lights from the Convention Centre with the KL Tower peering out from behind some buildings in a distance. The KLCC Towers in all its glory! It IS truly a sight and it's no wonder that hundreds of (mesmerised) tourists daily whip out their cameras (some even lying on the ground to take a better shot!) and snap away!
