The Wedding of Syahiza & Marzuky, 27 December 2008

Ever since joining the company, I've been invited to many weddings - most, if not all, I somehow did not make it to but in the case of Shahiza & Marzuky or better known as Jija & Aki, I would do my best to make it there.. somehow! Despite not being from the same department, Jija is someone whom I work very closely and have formed a friendship with - great gal!

I went with (my regular roomie) Jasmin & hyper-boy, Ash, who was kind enough to drive us all there.. Thanks, Ash! Despite not having a map, we found the house with no problems but by the time we got there it was pretty late and most of our colleagues/guests had come and gone or were on the verge of leaving. We were ushered to have our food first before making our way into the house to see the bride and groom.

The food.. And, what was on my plate - nasi minyak, beef rendang, pacheri nenas, acar buah & papadum - yummy!

The jovial couple..

They were busy posing for the photographers when we got in..

And, these were some shots taken after all the posing..

Jija looked a tad tired but radiant nonetheless and Aki... Aki looked like Aki in full traditional garb! Haha..

The lot of us with the happy couple..

Ash with Jija's less-than-one-month-old nephew who slept right thru' all the commotion! And, the one in blue pictured here with Jasmin is Nomi, Jija's younger sister and mummy to li'l baby (whose full name I can't quite remember - I only know that it's Mohamad something Iman!)

The bridal chamber, which I later found out was not where the newly weds would sleep but instead used more as a place for them to freshen up, receive well wishers & keep their gifts!

The customary bunga telur and the pretty wedding "giveaways"..

The ceremonial items for blessing the newly weds..

Just before going into the house, Jasmin had spotted some glasses of teh tarik and, boy, was she glad there was still some left - exactly ONE glass for her!

A happy Jasmin helping herself to the much needed teh tarik! Hmmmm....
That's Rieza, our Director of Operations & cousin to the bride, packing some takeaway for.... ASH! The boy's family had gone off for the long weekend - the food will definitely come in handy for the poor fella!

Since the 3 of us didn't manage to have dessert, we returned to PJ to have some before heading home.
