ZMERRY CHRISTMAS!Z
~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~
With all the present opened the night before, we slept in a bit and only got up by about 8.30am, got ready and headed off for breakfast (again, at the restaurant at the main building) at about 9.15am.
Up close with Nigel at breakfast.. The Family Wong..
It was still pretty misty and had begun to drizzle slightly when we set off after breakfast and headed for the Jeriau Waterfall.
It took us less than 1/2 an hour to get to the entrance leading into the Jeriau Waterfall. The plus point about this place that it there was a concrete trail, which ran alongside the river, to walk on to get to the waterfall which made it easy enough for Nigel and Aunty Connie. Unfortunately, the earlier slight drizzle had become big drops and we had to sit it out for a bit - thank goodness there were lots of covered (picnic) areas all along the river.
The river alongside the concrete trail.. Taken from a bridge over the river..
When it was back to a slight drizzle again, we decided to carry on. Aunty Connie decided to sit it out tho'. It wasn't quite a far distance before we got to the waterfall..
The waterfall as seen fron the trail above - Carol & Jade decided to stop at this point while the rest of us proceeded (there were steps leading down) to get closer to the waterfall..
Getting closer.... And, there it is! Beautiful!
Since we were already there, Luke & I just had to take pix of ourselves by the waterfall! The water was cold but we reckon if we had been there on a sunny day, it would've great to get into the water! Nigel loved it too and was pretty reluctant to leave.
Downstream.. and into the jungle.. A cat that spotted at the entrance as we were about to leave..
It was close to noon when we got into 'town' to grab a bite at the stalls. Luke and I shared a sup tulang and a roti pisang which were both pretty good while the rest had waffles. Luke and I agreed that the soup was 'addictive' - despite saying, ".. that's it for me.." it was hard to put the spoon down until every drop of the soup was finished! Yup, finished it all, we did!
After our little mid-day snack we proceeded to Bishop Trail which was not far from Pines. We had to park by the side of the road and I decided to stay with Aunty Connie who decided to sit this one out too.

Aunty Connie at the archway leading into the trail.. The route map of the trail..

A bit of background on the trail - a little too small to read! Sorry! The troop heading in..
I guess they didn't get very far 'coz they were in in outta there in about 20 minutes! Long enough for a leech to latch on to Nigel! Yup, the leech's got it right - latch on to the plump boy!
We then went back to the apartment and James got into barbecue mode and made burgers for everyone - a li'l sloppy but they tasted SO good!

I like this pix of Luke 'eye balling' his massive burger.. Tried as he did, it wasn'y easy to bite into the burger!
It was a wet and misty day and most of us decided that an afternoon nap was a good thing.. except for Jade, Nigel & James who went off again for their 4pm cycling ritual! For Luke, it was down the big burger & snooze!
We headed off for dinner at about 7.30pm and steamboat was on the menu. Again, it was simple but ample and tasty!

We did good with the steamboat! Spotted this big gecko in the toilet..
At the spur of the moment we decided that it was a good time to go crazy taking pictures!
This is a good one of all of us!

Experimental shots of Luke & Jade that turned out better than I had expected..
We got back to the apartment and sat around chatting. Then later, James went into barbecue mode again! This time it was chicken wings (we ran out of burgers! haha!) I reckon James really loves the whole process - marinating the chicken wings (which turned out great!), sitting out there by the fire in the cool air, slowly downing his beer, listening in on our conversation, cutting in for a quick, quirky remark every now and then, getting praises for all his delicious barbecued food! He hardly eats any of it actually! Well.. if he's happy, I'm happy for him!
It was a little past midnight when everyone decided to turn in.. Sleep would come easy even for me in this nice and cold weather!
