Holiday in Bangkok - ScrapLab on 9 November 2008..

It was by sheer chance that I stumbled upon this exhibition called ScrapLab at Siam Center and I'm glad I did! Also, I was especially happy that they had no objections whatsoever to visitors taking pictures (under normal circumstances, I would've gotten a telling off by the mall security!) and I took the opportunity to take as many pictures as possible.

It was a really cool exhibition where all these household furnishings were made out of discarded material, but there was a much bigger objective than merely making pretty things out of scraps. It was just too bad that the kids running the workshops spoke very little to almost no English as I would've loved to have asked them a couple of questions. So, I just had to be happy with whatever information I could get off the boards..

Some background on ScrapLab.. I hope it's legible.. you may have to squint a little (yikes!)

The "What"..

And the "Why"..

And more on the "What"..
A bit on the "Who"

The kids who run the show preparing for the 1pm workshop..

MAC Art.. Art pieces done using leftover MAC cosmetic.. now you know what to do with your leftover make-up, eh?
More from MAC.. Bags decorated with MAC packaging.

And, more clever uses for the MAC packaging..

Storage bags for the closet..

A massage chair - not quite sure how it works.. A pretty pendant lamp using bits of rope..

This probably my favourite 'coz I reckon it's SO clever & pretty - using used tubes of whatever..

The rest of the of the stuff all had little cards that give details of each item, making them pretty self-explanatory.. Check 'em out..

An overall view of the exhibition..
